Development of Models for Children—Pedestrian Crossing Speed at Signalized Crosswalks

چکیده
Modeling the behavior of pedestrians is an important tool in analysis their and consequently ensuring safety pedestrian traffic. Children show specific traffic which related to cognitive development, parameters that affect are very different. The aim this paper develop a model children-pedestrian’s speed at signalized crosswalk. For same set data collected city Osijek—Croatia, two models were developed based on neural network multiple linear regression. In both cases 300 measured children crosswalks primary roads located near school. As parameters, include selected infrastructure features children’s characteristics movements. validated type crosswalks, using methodology other urban environments—the Rijeka, Croatia Enna Italy. It was shown model, for Osijek, can be applied with sufficient reliability cities, while regression applicable relatively satisfactory only Rijeka. A comparative statistical indicators these showed better results achieved by model.

Analysis of Pedestrian Clearance Time at Signalized Crosswalks in Japan
At signalized crosswalks, pedestrian clearance time is a key design parameter for ensuring safe pedestrian crossing. It is generally defined as the time required by pedestrians who enter crosswalks at the end of the green indication to complete crossing before conflicting vehicular traffic movements are released. In Japan, pedestrian green indications are followed by pedestrian flashing green (...
متن کاملGap Acceptance Models for Left-turning Vehicles Facing Pedestrians at Signalized Crosswalks
Pedestrian-vehicle conflicts are considered as one of the most common safety problems at signalized intersections. The threat to pedestrian safety is mainly related to the interaction with turning vehicles, especially left-turners (left-hand traffic). This paper aims at analyzing the lag/gap acceptance behavior of left-turning vehicles considering pedestrian movement at signalized crosswalks. F...
متن کاملModeling Pedestrian Walking Speed at Signalized Crosswalks Considering Crosswalk Length and Signal Timing
Quantifying the effects of crosswalk length and signal timing on pedestrian walking speed is an important requirement for providing a rational safety assessment and improving existing operational policies at signalized intersections. This study investigates the effects of pedestrian green time (PG), crosswalk length and pedestrian crossing direction on pedestrian walking speed at signalized cro...
متن کاملEmpirical Analysis and Modeling of Stop-Line Crossing Time and Speed at Signalized Intersections
In China, a flashing green (FG) indication of 3 s followed by a yellow (Y) indication of 3 s is commonly applied to end the green phase at signalized intersections. Stop-line crossing behavior of drivers during such a phase transition period significantly influences safety performance of signalized intersections. The objective of this study is thus to empirically analyze and model drivers' stop...
متن کاملSafety impacts of signal-warning flashers and speed control at high-speed signalized intersections.
For many years, to reduce the crash frequency and severity at high-speed signalized intersections, warning flashers have been used to alert drivers of potential traffic-signal changes. Recently, more aggressive countermeasures at such intersections include a speed-limit reduction in addition to warning flashers. While such speed-control strategies have the potential to further improve the crash...
